Forester STI – SWRD 3 Port Boost Control Solenoid

The OE Subaru boost control setup is not as good as it could be so when wanting to increase the boost and gain better control of the turbo actuator a 3 port boost control solenoid is really worth fitting.

ScoobyWorx sell a known good 3 port solenoid with the correct plug adapter meaning I wouldn’t have to cut the original wiring to fit it, plus I was buying parts from ScoobyWorx anyway so I bought their SWRD 3 port solenoid.

The original boost control solenoid is mounted to this bracket. The blue plug is connected to it.

Couple of bolts to remove the bracket.

This is what need removing to be replaced by the SWRD item.

Next the hoses to the turbo and actuator need removing as the new solenoid needs to be connected with hoses in a different way to the original solenoid.

I wanted to fit the new solenoid to the original mounting bracket for two reasons. Firstly so it wouldn’t be too obvious and secondly as the bracket is rubber mounted to the body so the clicking/vibration from the solenoid isn’t heard in the cabin. Ask me how I know that can happen.

Fitted in place nicely and now to drive it off boost to the dyno for mapping, then more POWEEEEEER.
