We’ll I certainly haven’t done the mileage to require a new timing belt / cambelt but they should be replaced on a time interval too so it’s gotta be done. As with any transverse engine this was going to be a bit akward so I wasn’t looking forward to it but it was fairly easy really.
Again, not much spare time for updating this site nowadays so this will be mostly a bunch of pictures but I’m sure the pictures do most of the work on helping anyone looking to do the job themselves.
Parts for the job, including new coolant. As part of this job I drained and flushed all the old IAT coolant to replace it with more modern, longer lasting OAT coolant.
Quick check of which tensioner it’s using and the belt width.
That’s the crank and cams all timed up with the current belt and pulleys marked just in case. Now the coolant needs to be drained.
New belt is the wider variant.
Cooling system topped up with just water to make sure there are no leaks before the main belt cover goes back. Topped up with just water as the next job on my list is to drian and flush all the old coolant out to refill with the newer type coolant.
Done, that was a lot of pictures.
Record of the mileage for myself.
