I had already bought a set of rear discs and pads when I bought the set for the front from Godspeed. I didn’t fit the rears at the time I did the fronts as there was a decent amount of life left in the pads.
Now it was time to fit the Godspeed G Hook discs and pads on the rear though.
Subaru up.
Wheels off.
First thing to do is to get to the handbrake shoes adjustment and wind it off so there’s plenty of slack when it comes to pulling the disc/drum off.
I did it with a ‘special tool’ (bent screwdriver) that I have for just this kind of job. I can never remember which way is the right way to jurn it but it’s pretty obvious once you get started.
Slacken the caliper bolts next. Best to apply plenty of penetrating oil to the bolts first if you’ve not had the caliper bolts undone before or you might suffer the problem I had here.
Then these R clips out of the pins that hold the pads in place.
Pads out, caliper removed and wrapped in a rag to be placed to one side.
A bolt screwed into the thread on the disc then wound in to push the disc off the hub.
Torque setting for the caliper bolts.
Set the handbrake adjustment back.
Rubber grommet going back in the handbrake adjustment access hole.
Same again the other side.
All done.
