S1 Elise – Making an Exhaust Heat Shield

As I’ve said previously, it got a bit hot in the Elise drivers seat on the hottest summer days and I wanted to do what I could to keep heat from the exhaust at bay. One thing being heat wrapping the exhaust which you can see here and the other being fitting a more effective […]

S1 Elise – Fitting Side Air Scoops

After one of the side scoops fitted by a previous owner fell off and I removed the other, see here, I thought I’d fit some new ones. This time they would be clear gel coat carbon fibre though which makes them ten times cooler or something like that. πŸ˜‰ As they arrived, very nicely finished. […]

S1 Elise – Fitting Poly Lower Rear Engine Mount Bushes

Having found the exhaust to be leaking at the join between the manifold and downpipe, when I first got the Elise, and noticed the flexi section underneath the sump had occasionally been touching the undertray. I figured the engine mounts might have got a bit tired after 20 years causing a bit more engine movement […]

Forester STI – Fitting New Front Door Speakers

The speakers in the Forester sounded pretty rubbish. I assumed they were just old and were never that great but when I pulled a door card off to take a look I found it was worse than that. They had fallen apart. Time for an upgrade then. I removed the speaker to measure what space […]

S1 Elise – Diffuser Spacers

Spacing out the diffuser where it mounts to the rear of the clam is not an uncommon modification to an S1 Elise or Exige. It’s usually done as an aid to keeping engine bay temperatures down. Engine bay temperatures aren’t much of a concern with my Elise though as I’m not tracking or racing it […]

S1 Elise – Clutch Slave Cylinder Support Bracket

When I was buying all the suspension refresh bits, for some reason I decided to buy one of these. An Elise Parts clutch slave cylinder support bracket. Apparently the original bracket can be a bit weak and bendy. I figured I’d may as well fit it while I had the air filter out the way. […]

S1 Elise – ITG Air Filter and Carbon Fibre Air Box Part 1

To me, one of the most important parts to enjoying a car is the noise it makes, particularly induction noise. Having owned a few Rover K-Series powered cars in my time and run a modified K-Series in my Classic Mini, I know they are capable of making a really nice induction howl. The Elise just […]

S1 Elise – Suspension Refresh – Assembly Finished

I thought I’d take a few pictures of everything freshly reassembled after the suspension refresh, as a record of it’s condition, before I cover it all with ACF-50 and it ends up with a layer of brake dust and road grime over it. Now I can get the Elise back on it’s wheels! πŸ™‚
